5454 H34 aluminum alloy is a magnesium (Mg) containing alloy belonging to the 5xxx series in a strain-hardened and stabilized temper condition. This alloy stands out with its high corrosion resistance, medium-to-high strength, and good mechanical stability. The H34 temper provides slightly higher strength than H32, while its formability is somewhat more limited. It offers reliable performance in seawater, industrial atmospheres, and chemical environments and is preferred in elevated temperature applications.

In terms of strength, 5454 H34 provides higher strength than H24 and H22 tempers and is classified among medium-to-high strength alloys. Compared to 5052 H34 alloy, it offers similar strength levels but has advantages in high-temperature stability. When compared to 5083 alloy, it provides lower strength but better temperature resistance. Compared to 6061-T6 alloy, it has lower strength but significantly better corrosion resistance and weldability.

In terms of machinability, 5454 H34 alloy is moderate; it is not suitable for machining but can be easily processed in sheet and plate form. Its bending capability is slightly more limited than H32 and requires more careful forming. Due to higher strength, more force is required during forming operations. Cold forming is possible but must be controlled.

In terms of coating capability, 5454 H34 performs well and is suitable for surface treatments such as painting and anodizing. However, in most applications, additional coating is not required due to its natural corrosion resistance. In terms of vibration response, it offers good damping capacity and can be used in environments with dynamic loads.

Its weldability is very high and it can be easily welded using methods such as MIG and TIG. Some local reductions in strength may occur after welding, but overall performance remains high. The 5454 H34 alloy is widely used in applications such as pressure vessels, chemical tanks, transport tanks, marine equipment, and structural applications. It stands out especially in applications requiring strength, corrosion resistance, and temperature stability.
