3105 H24 aluminum alloy is an alloy belonging to the 3xxx series, containing manganese (Mn) and magnesium (Mg), and supplied in a half-hard temper obtained through cold working followed by partial annealing. The H24 temper provides the material with a balanced combination of strength and formability. The alloy performs particularly well in terms of corrosion resistance and offers high resistance to atmospheric conditions, humid environments, and mild chemical exposure. Therefore, it can be safely used in exterior cladding, roofing, and other outdoor applications.

In terms of strength, 3105 H24 provides higher strength than alloys in the fully annealed O temper and 3003 O alloy, while maintaining adequate ductility and formability. Compared with 3003 O, it has higher yield and tensile strength, although its formability is slightly lower. It has lower strength than 5052-H32, but offers advantages in general sheet forming, painting, and economical mass-production applications. Compared with 6061-T6, it is considerably lower in strength; however, it may be a more suitable option for applications requiring sheet forming, surface coating, and corrosion resistance.

In terms of machinability, 3105 H24 alloy performs at a moderate level. Although it was not specifically developed for machining operations, it can be easily cut, drilled, and formed in sheet and plate form. Its bending capability is good; however, due to the half-hard structure of the H24 temper, larger and more suitable bending radii should be used compared with the O temper. It is suitable for roll forming, profiling, pressing, and moderate deep-drawing operations. Thanks to its balanced strength and formability, it is widely preferred in mass-production processes.

It performs very well in terms of coating capability. It is highly suitable for painting, lacquering, powder coating, and other protective or decorative surface-coating processes. It is especially widely used in pre-painted sheet products and roofing and facade-cladding systems. Anodizing can also be applied; however, the decorative anodized appearance may vary depending on the process and surface quality. In terms of vibration response, it offers balanced performance suitable for general sheet-metal applications, although it is not specifically designed for high vibration-damping applications.

Its weldability is very high, and it can be easily welded using standard methods such as MIG, TIG, resistance welding, and other conventional welding techniques. This feature provides significant advantages, particularly in sheet-metal structures, ventilation components, and architectural cladding systems. 3105 H24 alloy is widely used in many sectors, including roofing and facade cladding, rain gutters, HVAC systems, advertising and signage applications, closures, enclosure panels, and general sheet-metal work. It is particularly prominent in applications where good strength, formability, corrosion resistance, and paintability are required together.
