The 1200 H24 aluminum alloy belongs to the commercially pure aluminum group with a purity higher than 99.0%. The H24 temper indicates that the material is strain hardened and partially annealed. With this temper condition, the alloy achieves higher mechanical strength compared to the 1200 O temper while still maintaining good ductility. The alloy is particularly known for its excellent corrosion resistance, showing good performance in atmospheric conditions, humid environments, and many chemical media. For this reason, it is widely used in various industrial applications.

The tensile and yield strength of this alloy are considered moderate within the pure aluminum alloy group. However, compared with high-strength alloys such as 2024-T3 or 7075-T6, it still provides lower mechanical strength. On the other hand, 1200 H24 can offer higher electrical conductivity and better corrosion resistance. In addition, when compared with 3003 alloy, the 1200 alloy provides higher aluminum purity and better electrical conductivity, whereas 3003 generally offers slightly higher strength due to its manganese content.

In terms of machinability, the 1200 H24 alloy demonstrates moderate performance. Due to its high aluminum purity, material adhesion may occur during machining operations, but it can still be processed with appropriate cutting parameters. On the other hand, its bending and forming capability is quite good. Cold forming operations, sheet forming, and bending applications can be performed successfully. Therefore, it is frequently used in thin sheet production, panels, and various decorative products.

Another important property of this alloy is its good coatability and suitability for surface treatments. Processes such as anodizing, painting, and other coating methods can produce very good results. Additionally, its ductile behavior under vibration and impact prevents brittle failure and reduces the risk of crack formation. These characteristics provide a significant advantage, especially in applications involving thin metal components.

In terms of weldability, the 1200 H24 alloy performs very well and can easily be joined using TIG or MIG welding methods. This property enables the alloy to be used in electrical equipment, chemical industry tanks, architectural applications, and food processing equipment. In general, the 1200 H24 alloy provides lower strength compared with high-strength alloys such as 2024 and 7075, while offering similar corrosion resistance and high purity advantages compared with alloys such as 3003 and 1100.
