7475 T7651 alloys are Al-Zn-Mg-Cu (Aluminum-Zinc-Magnesium-Copper) alloys developed for applications requiring high strength and good corrosion resistance. The chemical composition typically contains 5.2–6.2% Zinc, 1.9–2.6% Magnesium, 1.2–1.9% Copper, and 0.18–0.25% Chromium; small amounts of Silicon, Iron, Titanium, and Manganese are also added. The T7651 temper condition provides high strength in thick sections and offers resistance against stress corrosion cracking, making it especially suitable for aerospace applications.

In terms of mechanical properties, 7475 T7651 is characterized by high tensile strength and excellent yield strength. In the T7651 condition, the alloy provides approximately 12% elongation, offering a balanced performance between toughness and ductility. These properties make the alloy suitable for critical applications such as aircraft fuselages, wing components, and large structural parts. Its stable performance in thick sections makes it a preferred option among 7000 series aluminum alloys.

Regarding machinability, 7475 T7651 performs well in milling, turning, and other mechanical operations. However, due to its high alloy content, its weldability is limited and there is a risk of cracking during welding. Formability is moderate, and it is more suitable for thick and flat plates rather than complex geometries. Therefore, the alloy is ideal for precision-machined parts and large structural components.

In terms of corrosion resistance, 7475 T7651 exhibits high resistance to stress corrosion cracking in the T7651 temper and maintains stable performance even in humid or salty environments. However, the use of surface treatments or coatings is recommended for additional protection. Considering all these features, 7475 T7651 is widely used in aerospace, defense, and other applications requiring high strength, toughness, and reliable corrosion resistance. It is also used in high-temperature steam exhaust systems, transportation and logistics vehicles, and some railway system components.
