2007 T4511 aluminum alloy belongs to the 2000 series Al-Cu (aluminum-copper) alloys and is particularly known for its excellent machinability. The T4511 temper refers to a straightened bar condition after solution heat treatment, stress relieving and natural aging. This alloy combines relatively high strength with outstanding machining performance, which makes it widely used in the production of precision mechanical components. It is commonly used in automotive parts, machinery manufacturing, fasteners and precision mechanical components.

In terms of strength, the 2007 T4511 alloy provides medium-to-high mechanical strength. However, it may fall slightly behind high-strength alloys such as 2024 and 7075. On the other hand, it offers higher strength and significantly better machinability compared to general-purpose alloys such as 6061. Because of these characteristics, it provides high production efficiency in turning and CNC machining and offers major advantages in manufacturing parts requiring tight tolerances.

Regarding corrosion resistance, the 2007 alloy does not provide as much resistance as pure aluminum or 5000 and 6000 series alloys. For this reason, surface treatments such as anodizing or protective coatings are often applied in many applications. Its coatability is quite good, and corrosion resistance can be significantly improved through surface finishing processes. This feature is beneficial for mechanical parts used in external environments.

In terms of machinability, 2007 alloy is considered one of the best free-machining aluminum alloys. Chips break easily and stable machining is possible at high cutting speeds. Therefore, it is frequently used in automatic turning operations. However, its bendability and formability are more limited compared to alloys such as 6061 or 5052. In addition, its weldability is relatively poor and it is generally not preferred in welded constructions.

From the perspective of vibration behavior and applications, 2007 T4511 provides good rigidity and stability, enabling reliable performance in mechanical systems exposed to vibration. For this reason, it is commonly used in precision machine parts, gear components, connectors and automotive parts. Its excellent machinability makes it a cost-effective solution for industries requiring mass production, particularly in automotive, machinery manufacturing and precision engineering applications.
